THE Riverhead Theatre in Louth is set to put on a ‘puppet show’ with a difference this weekend - when it joins forces with the Wolds Words festival for a performance of Thumbelina.
“There was once a little girl so small that she could float on a lily pad and rise on the back of a dragonfly,” said a spokesperson.
“Thumbelina’s encounters with a frog, mouse, mole and swallow are played out among gardening tools leading her to ultimate happiness in the kingdom of flowers.
“Using traditional glove, rod and shadow puppets performed by Joy Hayes, Thumbelina is an excellent introduction to the magic of theatre.
“Thumbelina is a one woman show, full of delight and excitement for young children - with action, adventure and just a touch of fear and romance.
“Performed with gentle storytelling this show is suitable for two-to-seven-year-olds, offering a perfect setting for a child’s first introduction to puppet theatre.
The show will be held in the theatre at 2pm and 3.30pm this Saturday, October 22. Tickets cost £6 for adults and £3 for children.
