AN award-winning and atmospheric revenge drama will be the next movie screened at Louth Film Club.
The film ‘Katalin Varga’ will be shown at the Playhouse Cinema in Louth on Monday, January 23.
Winner of the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, the film was directed by British filmmaker Peter Strickland and beautifully photographed in Romania’s Carpathian Mountains.
“Katalin Varga is set in the present day but barring the odd mobile phone the story and the landscape are timeless,” said a spokesperson.
“Hilda Péter gives a powerful performance as a young woman who sets out, accompanied by her son, to find and punish the two men who have abused her,” they added.
The film, in Romanian and Hungarian, with subtitles, is Certificate 15. The show starts at 7.30pm.
Non-members are welcome. Tickets are £3.50 for members and £5.90 for non-members (£4.70 concessions).
Katalin Varga is the last film in Louth Film Club’s current season.
