There’ll be plenty of ‘Platform Fun’ at Skegness Railway Station this weekend.

East Midlands Trains is hosting a range of special events and celebrations as part of the Queen’s 90th birthday festivities.

The fun takes place at Skegness on Saturday from 10am until 2.30pm.

The Poacher Line Community Rail Partnership has organised a children’s entertainer and face-painters plus cupcakes for customers.

The Skegness Silver Band will be playing, while SLAPDASH (the South Lincolnshire Appalachian Dance Show) will be providing dancing and music.

It’s part of the nationwide ‘Station to Station Queen’s Celebration,’ offering rail customers and communities the chance to celebrate the historic occasion.

Jake Kelly, managing director for East Midlands Trains, said: “Millions of people across the country will be celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday and we wanted to provide an opportunity for our customers and our local communities to join in with the fun.

“Railways are at the heart of the local communities and we wanted to give a chance for people to celebrate this momentous occasion at their local railway station.

“All the stations involved have come up with their own unique plans to celebrate and we hope everybody enjoys this special weekend.”

Passengers travelling to Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield and Kidsgrove will also be able to join in with the fun as events are taking place at the various stations across the whole weekend.
