A FORMER Burgh le Marsh man was delighted when he and his band were asked to support 70s rock legends, Uriah Heep.

Charles Holmes, who now lives in Germany, originally tried to fly over to the UK and visit the Embassy Theatre in Skegness when Uriah Heep played in January but was unable to, due to work commitments.

So much to Charles’s surprise, he received a phone call in February from a friend who worked at an events park in Karlsruhe in Germany who asked if he and his band the Charles Holmes Taylor Band were still playing.

From there, the band were asked to join Uriah Heep for an evening.

Charles said: “Of course I couldn’t turn the offer down!”

The gig took place on May 28 where Charles said being able to play on the big stage was “phenomenal.”

Charles added: “We had a professional sound check, amazing lighting and sound and even a security team looking after us.

“We rocked them with our Rolling Stones show and it went down a treat. We also met some great musicians from other bands.

“It was great day out and maybe we’ll get to do a show on our own turf at the Embassy in Skegness.”
