The Embassy Theatre in Skegness is set to hold a new art exhibition in its gallery area.
From September 5 to November 3 Theddlethorpe-based artist Peter Wood will be exhibiting a range of his works.
He has travelled extensively, taught art at a number of prestigious schools and colleges and his works have been exhibited in major galleries and have even been accepted by the Royal Academy.
Born in Wiltshire, the son of an RAF family, as a child Peter travelled widely, including Singapore and the Far East.
After boarding school he was accepted for an honours degree at Camberwell College of Art, London. From there he went to Brighton University for his Post Graduate Teaching Qualification and then to his first teaching post in Hornsea on the East Yorkshire coast.
Peter’s next post took him into the private sector as Head of Art, Craft and Technology at a school in Essex, and then, after six years he returned to the state sector.
He held a brief one year contract at Grimsby before taking early retirement after his final five year post as Head of Art, Craft and Design at a High School in Suffolk.
His skills encompass the teaching all of the fine arts, drawing, painting in many mediums, ceramics and sculpture, woodcarving, mixed crafts, computer graphics and more.
Peter’s early retirement marked the start of a new life. Having sold his home in Yorkshire he purchased a delightful and most unusual home, next to a river in the south of France where he set up his studios and gallery, and had a wonderful seven years before moving back to England.
He now resides in Lincolnshire at Theddlethorpe.
His works have been exhibited in major galleries and he has had work accepted by the Royal Academy.
After years of travelling Peter is pleased to be exhibiting a body of his recent works so close to home in The Embassy Theatre Gallery.
The Exhibition opens on September 5 for an evening preview and will run until November 3.
