PUPILS at Halton Holegate Primay School could soon become world record holders after they successfully participated in a coordinated dance with schools across the country.

Under the instruction of the school’s arts coordinator and class three teacher Matthew Wood, 44 youngsters completed a five minute choreographed dance in celebration of the Olympic Torch’s arrival into the UK.

The pupils’ efforts on Friday formed part of the ‘Big Dance 2012’ Guinness world record attempt for the largest simultaneous dance routine in multiple venues, involving schools from across the nation.

The current record was set in Holland when 264,188 people participants danced simultaneously at 1,472 locations.

The school has submitted its official documentation verifying the attempt took place and now the pupils must wait for the total to be tallied to see if they have beaten the record.

Through its participation in innovative artistic activities such as this, the school has recently been accredited as an Artsmark Gold School, of which it is very proud.
