The final preparations for bank holiday weekend of intergalactic fun are nearing completion as Skegness prepares itself to host an epic battle between good and evil.
The Hildreds Centre’s International Star Wars Day celebrations blast off on Saturday, May the Fourth (be with you), for three days of interstellar action.
Visitors to the free event are invited to dress up as their favourite characters and pose for pictures alongside the models and live actions characters taking part in the event.
The Hildreds Centre’s Steve Andrews, who has been busily creating realistic versions of the droids C3P0 and R2D2, believes it will one of the most exciting events yet.
“May 4 is a key daye in any Star Wars fan’s diary and we think we’ve hit the nail on the head with this event.
“The models and characters are extremely realistic and the Space Lounge is like stepping into a completely different place.”
Steve’s models will be part of a display narrating a seven minute version of the Star Wars tale while live action versions of Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers will be plotting their evil deeds against the shopping centre.
Skegness Partnership has also been busily transforming the former Julian Graves health store into dark and mysterious Space Lounge, decorated with specially designed Star Wars graphics.
The event will also kick start the launch of the Skegness App, promoting the town’s businesses attractions and events to millions of potential smartphone owning customers.
And Visit the Seaside will be using the event to release its new Directory packed with yet more exclusive deals and offers around the resort.
