Hykeham Town 3

Skegness United 2

United were forced to make several changes.

Missing from the squad were Jordan Walden, Adam Cowdell, Ross Muirhead, and Adam Broom. Into the starting line up came Josh Clarke, manager Mark Hallam and Sam Sleight.

Hykeham took the lead through Steven Mehta’s 10th minute penalty and on 30 minutes the home side increased their lead when Thomas Arden sent in a low shot past Ben Martin into the corner.

United got themselves back into the game on 55 minutes when a free-kick, taken by Ryan O’Loughlin in a central position, was diverted home by Kurt Crossley.

Hykeham then hit back when Jason Addlesee’s snap shot found the corner of the net to restore the two goal advantage.

With minutes remaining United reduced the home side’s lead when Sizer, in trying to clear, hit Howard and the ball rebounded to Crossley. The keeper saved Crossley’s shot, but Jordan Smith fired home the loose ball.

Following Gainsborough’s defeat to Horncastle, United still need one point to take the title from the remaining four games.

United have no midweek match this week but are away to second placed Gainsborough Town on Saturday (April 20) Kick-Off is at 3pm.
