Swifts share the spoils after topsy-turvy tussle

Alford Town U12s 3

Swifts JFC U12s 3

SWIFTS Junior Football Club under 12s made the short trip to local rivals Alford, where the home side got off to a flying start when Tristan Miller scored Alford’s first goal in less than 45 seconds.

Despite this, the visitors soon found themselves in the match when Brooklyn White smashed home Swifts’ first, before Jess Marshall found the back of the net for Town after the Swifts keeper found himself way out of position.

Again, Swifts came straight back at Alford, as Cameron Dunne scored his first to level things at 2-2 at the break.

Despite Town having another shot on target early in the second half, it was Swifts who came out the strongest.

With some great team play and an assist by Swifts’ Thomas Day, Cameron Dunne smashed the ball just inside the far post to score his second and give the visitors the lead they were looking for.

It was a frantic battle on the field by both teams, with some great end to end football.

Swifts couldn’t hold on to the lead for long as Alford’s Corey Lewis got the goal of the match with a sweetly struck volley inside the box to level the score at 3-3.

Swifts’ CK Wilson had one final chance to secure the win for the visitors, after some brilliant counter attacking play, but unfortunately his shot failed to work the Town’s keeper.

Swifts’ player of the match: CK Wilson.

Team: Chaplin, Day, Dunne, Fulton (c), Godrich, Gregory, Laurenov, Neil, Parker, Parker, Probert, Rice, White, Wilson.
