Spirited reserves drop points

Boston Premier League

Skegness Town Reserves 1 Swineshead Institute 3

Skegness entertained Swineshead Institute in the Boston Premier league on an emotional afternoon for all connected with the club, past and present.

Teammates from neighbours Burgh Town FC joined close friends, supporters and officials from both sides in a minute’s silence for Craig Rawlinson before kick-off.

Both sets of players played in great spirit, a fitting tribute to Craig who always played in that manner.

Swineshead led 2-0 at half-time, but in the second period Skegness really gave a fighting performance and were unlucky not to come away with a point.

Michael Marinov scored on the hour to reduce arrears, but with Town chasing the game they conceded their third in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Manager Scott Daley said: “Craig would have loved this game, our fighting spirit in the second half was a fitting tribute to a great lad, who will be remembered by all at the club.”

Skegness Town Reserves: Liam Gibson, Ben Etches (Capt) Joe Errington, Andy Corssen, Mike Fenton, Antony Miller, John Jeffery, Shaun Connelly, Adi Verhuel, Michael Parnham, Michael Marinov, Jack Ashwell, Scott Dore, and Danny Wynn.
