Spilsby students will have a special guest watching them compete at a sports tournament later this year - Lord Coe, the person behind London 2012’s success.
The double Olympic champion is guest of honour at the inaugural Summer Cup, a competition between the seven academies in the David Ross Education Trust (DRET).
Spilsby’s King Edward VI Academy will have strong representation at the event, taking place at the Grantham Sports Stadium in July.
Lord Coe will watch and hand out medals to the winners as part of DRET’s Play your Part campaign, which aims to encourage students across all its academies to reach their sporting potential.
Mike Irving, subject leader for PE at King Edward, said students would be inspired.
“Lord Coe is one of the all-time great sporting icons and a hero,” said Mr Irving. “What an incredible opportunity this is, to be able to meet him in person. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and listen to one of the most highly-regarded sports personalities the country has produced.”
