South Lincs and Border League
Welby 141 all out
Skegness 2nds 143 for 7
SUCH is their dominance of Division Two of the South Lincs and Border League that Skegness 2nds have already overtaken last season’s tally of league wins.
The seasiders added high-flying Welby to their list of scalps with a three wicket victory at Richmond Drive.
Having bowled the visitors out in the 43rd over, Skegness had the luxury of an extra 12 balls in which to chase down the score.
They only needed one of those additional deliveries to continue their perfect start to the season and stretch their lead at the top to 54 points.
Welby began brightly, but despite reaching three figures for the loss of only one wicket, they slumped to 141 all out.
Steve O’Dare was the pick of the home bowlers with four wickets, and his 12 overs included four maidens.
In response, Zeeshan Saeed, batting at number three, scored 45 as the home side patiently knocked off the required runs.
An unbeaten 32 from Charlie Walker was another highlight of the Skegness innings and he helped to steer the seasiders home on the first ball of the 46th over.
