Spilsby 2 Swineshead 5

In this league clash of fourth verses second, Spilsby got off to the worst possible start. Within the first minute a poor clearance fell straight to the Swineshead centre forward who promptly put the ball back into the empty net.

Spilsby recovered from this set back and played some excellent pass and move football during an even first half.

Spilsby got off to a flying start in the second half, when Matt Barker made a good run down the left flank and crossed to Jordan Smith who fired home from the edge of the area for a deserved equaliser.

Spilsby threatened further with Dales, Cobb and Bache all going close, then a controversial second goal was scored by Swineshead, with the linesman clearly flagging for offside. Inexplicably the referee over ruled him and the goal stood.

Spilsby never recovered from this set back and conceded three late goals and despite Matt Barker knocking in a second for Spilsby from Smith’s penalty miss, this was a poor afternoon for Spilsby.
