WMC Aces secured runners-up spot in the William Hill Darts League’s Sid Dennis and Sons Ltd Division Two, ensuring their promotion to Division One.
With Finnegans already crowned champions, the battle for second saw three teams all in with a shout in the final round of fixtures.
Two of those teams met as Cricket Club took on Seaview Raiders, where a draw would do neither team any good.
As the singles were shared 3-3 there had to be a winner.
First blood went the way of Cricket Club as they took the first pairs before S. Bourke (125, 140) and partner J. Epton (2x140) won to secure victory, Seaview winning the last pairs to go down 7-5.
Cricket Club had P. Lucas (3x140) and S. Chamberlain (2x140) also on the scoresheet while Raiders’ Barry Taylor (2x140) and Steve Gillings (121, 129, 2x140) high Scoring.
Although they didn’t know it, WMC Aces held their fate in their own hands, and they set about Chatsworth Hotel in fine style, winning the singles 5-1, Mick Jones the only casualty for the Aces.
The Aces then went on to win all the doubles, running out 11-1 winners with Gareth Jowett (125, 2x140) and his team securing runners-up spot.
Chatsworth had D. Howland (2x121) and C. Arabin (132, 133) high Scoring.

With one outstanding game for Welcome Hillbillies, the bottom team will be looking for their first win against the Seaview Raiders.
