Woodhall Spartans earned a narrow 32-29 success against Fresh Fitness in the Skegness Netball League.

Fresh Fitness had an eight-point handicap going into the game, which made for a tight contest.

Woodhall started off strongly with some fast play enabling them to maintain their lead through the first quarter.

Fresh Fitness started to dominate in the second quarter.

J. Gowshall at goal attack was decisive when shooting, resulting in points for Fresh Fitness, who continued to finish off attacks well in the third quarter.

A switch in mid-court for Woodhall saw R. Littleworth at centre come more into the game, combining well with C. Wilson at wing attack to finish the quarter strongly.

The switch paid dividends in the final quarter as Woodhall upped the tempo.

Their defence contained the opposition well as the mid-court trio of F. Poulsom, R. Littleworth and C. Wilson moved the ball quickly into E. Beebe and M. Roworth, who finished off the match strongly in front of goal.

Overall, it was a tightly contested game with Fresh Fitness just falling short of overcoming their handicap.

R. Littleworth took the umpires’ player of the match accolade, with E. Beebe getting players’ player for Woodhall, and J. Gowshall the players’ player for Fresh Fitness.
