Skegness Second XI were dispatched by Freiston in the South Lincs and Border League on Saturday.

Freiston made it five wins from five league matches with a comfortable victory as power-packed batting display saw them amass 270 before dismissing the visitors for 136.

After being put into bat, Freiston started well. Opening pair Waseem Ilyas and Richard Paul put on 87 for the first wicket with Paul watchful for his 24 before being caught in the slips.

Ilyas brought up his 50, and when he was joined by Abdul Moeed the scoring rate accelerated dramatically. The pair scored at more than eight runs an over in their 92-run partnership.

Moeed was quick to pounce on anything short and the majority of his seven maximums were pulled over the leg side.

Ilyas, who made 84, and Moeed (67) were dismissed in quick succession, but Connor Goodfellow (28) and Zeeshan Saeed (26) kept the scoreboard moving along.

Freiston closed on 270-8 off their 45 overs, with Elsom claiming four wickets for Skegness.

Skegness lost their first wicket in only the third over of their reply when Foreman was clean bowled by Ollie Booth for six.

Elsom (9) and Taylor (22) added 33 for the second wicket, but both were caught in the leg side off the bowling of Tommy Atkinson.

Ashok Kumar clean bowled Redgard and there were two wickets for Zeeshan Hasan.

Hugill top scored for Skegness with an aggressive 39 before he was caught in the deep by Paul to give Moeed the first of four victims.

Moeed also had Brant caught by Ilyas for a patient 14, before Moeed cleaned up the tail to end with impressive figures of 4 for 13.
