Preparations are well under way for Seabank Marathon which goes from Boston to Skegness, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and other charities.

Entrants of all abilities are encouraged to take part in the marathon on June 21, which is run by Boston and District Committee for Macmillan Cancer Support

Previous years have seen more than 250 people set off to complete the challenging route that takes in roads, fields and coastal paths. The event attracts entrants from all over Lincolnshire and further afield, all aiming to finish in the best time possible.

Main organizer Simeon Disley said: “The Seabank Marathon has always been a fantastic day for the East Coast, and last year raised over £16,000 in sponsorship.

“We welcome runners and walkers of all ages to take part and raise money for Macmillan and their chosen charity.

“We had great success with the relay teams entering last year, and we are keen to see running clubs, companies, and social groups team up to take on the marathon.”

Last year saw several running clubs take to the route, and others entering teams of eight to complete the 27 mile course.

Jamie Davenport, Macmillan fundraising manager for the Lincolnshire Coast said “It’s great to see the popularity of the Seabank Marathon in Lincolnshire, and the money raised goes such a long way to making sure no-one faces cancer alone.”
