It was finals week in the Ladbrokes Darts League this week with the team knockout doubles and singles to be decided.
First games up were the semi finals of the doubles and Outsiders duo of Lee Yates and Dave Tuplin took on Barkham Arms pair of Ken Wilson and Barry Grenfell,.
It was Lee and Dave that proved too strong to book their place in the final, their opponents were to be Carl Abbiss and Shaun Wilson of the WMC Steelers as they defeated Royal Oaks Tony Parkin and Mark Kirby.
The singles competition followed, with Carl Taking on Brad Martin of the Ex Service Sports.
Carl took the match hitting a splendid 180 on his way to a 2-0 win in legs of 16, and 17 darts. He was to meet Martin Bell in the final as he beat Ex Service Cobras Darryl Webb 2-1.
In the Team knockout Final the Steelers took on the Outsiders, and a close game followed, as you would expect with the leagues top two teams clashing.
It was the Steelers who took the early initiative, taking the singles 4-2, with Mark Thompson hitting a 14 dart leg in his win over A. Pinner and Shaun Wilson checking out in 16 as he lost to Martin Bell, Martin hitting a 180 and a 16 darter. It was the outsiders who started the brighter in the pairs, taking the first one to level the match at 4-4, but the Steelers bounced back taking the last two pairs to run out 8-4 winners.
In the doubles final Carl and Shaun took on Lee and Dave in the first of Carl’s two finals, and a close game going all three legs saw Carl and Shaun prevail.
The Final game of the nigh was the singles final and Carl took on Martin Bell in a cracker of a game.
However, it was Carl’ night, hitting 180 on his way to a two one victory to become singles champion.
