Six members of Skegness Triathlon Club were looking to make capital gains at the weekend.
They took part in the London Triathlon, the largest triathlon in the world, where racing takes place over two days with varying distances.
Russell Parker, Mark Wheeler, Matt Wain, Peter Nicholls and Rich Vincent raced the Olympic Plus distance and Sarah Shuttleworth raced the Olympic distance.
Both those disciplines begin with a 1,500m swim in open water in the Royal Victoria Dock.
The Olympic Plus race then involves a four-lap 50-mile course with the Olympic event seeing competitors take on half that distance, taking the triathletes past the 02 arena, around the Isle of Dogs, by London’s financial district and then back along side the Docklands.
Both races concluded with a six-mile run along the quayside.
Sarah’s day ended with medical treatment after falling during the run, but she had vowed to come back stronger for her next race.
Race times were: R. Parker 3:38-12, M. Wheeler 3:46-39, M. Wain 3:46-44, P. Nicholls 3:48-34, R. Vincent 4:16-44.
