The Skegness second team travelled to Market Rasen on Saturday for a Merit League fixture which resulted in a thrilling encounter.

Facing the rain and strong wind in the first half, the blue and whites started in fierce fashion. They were quick to the breakdown and maintained possession through sound work by Linnell, Farnsworth and newcomer Chris Wheeler.

Following strong running from skipper Andy Hill, and excellent support work from Bignell, Skegness were awarded a penalty. This was competently converted by Taylor.

Shaun Chamberlain had a tremendous game, working tirelessly in tough conditions to earn a well deserved try.

Market Rasen refused to lie down and battled back with a well-deserved try. Ant Spiers led the side back on attack, soundly backed by Eldin and the outstanding Clarke and Lempard who continues to dominate games.

Rickie Taylor scored a hard-worked try after sound play from the dominant Hotchen, Holiday and Bignell.

Substitute and debutant Mike Hardy produced powerful, strong runs which underpinned the performance by Skegness.

Rhys Thompson and Ant Hardy both produced tremendous defensive displays with hard hitting tackling throughout.

Half time came with Skegness deservedly ahead 17 -12. However the game had to be abandoned due to adverse weather conditions with Skegness awarded the game.
