Members of Skegness Swim Club took part in the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) Rookie Lifeguard Gala and achieved some fantastic results.
Ten-year-old Casey Wain and Thomas Colbourne, nine, not only train three times a week with Skegness Swim Club, but also attend Rookie Life Guard training for one hour a week in a class lesson run by Magna Vitae at the Embassy Swimming pool.
This session teaches various life saving skills such as CPR, rope throws, how to rescue from the water and to deal with the Emergency Services if required.
The games in the gala revolve round the weekly training that the rookies do and each rookie is awarded points for each test.
Thomas scored the most points in his age group and won his age category in the eight-nine years group.
Casey was moved into the 12 years group due to her swimming ability.
More information regarding the rookie courses can be obtained from the Embassy Swimming Pool, while information about the competitive swim club can be obtained from Kim Baker on 07887 505995.
