SKEGNESS Grammar School’s Amanda Black showed she is no slouch behind the wheel after she bagged a double podium in motoring action at the weekend.

Amanda, 29, was back on track for the start of the Caterham Classic Graduates Championship for rounds one and two at Donington Park with live coverage from Motors TV.

And she grabbed a second and a third spot in the two races.

The first race was very exciting and Amanda, Justin Cox and David Pearson all jostled for the lead. Amanda did take the lead for a couple of laps before coming in second.

In race two Amanda achieved third place and also achieved the fastest lap.

Both races were televised live on Motors TV. Commentators described one of Amanda’s overtaking moves as ‘a fantastic move round the outside of Craner Curves to take second place, a very, very brave move, made it stick, brilliant, textbook, quality move, well done’.

Amanda said: “To achieve my first second place race result at the start of the season is great.

“There are a few good new drivers in this class this year and I’m expecting there to be big battles at every race meeting.

“To be comfortably in the lead pack is a fantastic feeling. I’m chuffed with a double podium.”

The next race weekend is at Brands Hatch where Amanda achieved her first pole position in only her third qualifying session and first time on the circuit.

Amanda added: “The competition will be very high, but I can’t wait.”
