Skegness Tri Club enjoyed come comforts this weekend as SBR events hosted the second Skegness Triathlon.

More than 120 competitors took part in the event which began at Fresh Fitness with a 400m swim, a scenic bike leg of two loops from Richmond Drive to Gibraltar Point nature reserve and a three-mile run through the Eco centre grounds.

The weather was ideal for the event which attracted plenty of locally-based competitors, and there was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the race.

A total of 24 members of Skeg Tri Club took part.

For some it was their first triathlon and others were racing hard for a personal best time.

First time triathletes Mitchell Clark 1:10:20, Mark Smith 1:15:30, Nigel Kelly 1:20:05 and Cherry Kelly 1:35:21.

Skeg Tri club members Suzy Wain and John Irving won the team award for finishing in a time of 1:10:56.

A huge personal best time was achieved by Carly Plucinski, who was a staggering 35 minutes quicker than last year and finished in 1:29:20.

The oldest competitor in the event was ‘The Governor’ Michael Clark who, aged 72, finished in 1:29:20.
