Hockey: Alford 2nds beat under-strength Long Sutton

Alford men’s 2nds hosted Long Sutton 4s on Saturday and despite the visitors starting with just eight players, Alford were unable to find a breakthrough.

Long Sutton however found a goal from a short corner on 15 minutes.

Daniel Coe cancelled that goal out after winning a goal line tussle with the Sutton keeper.

Alford, sponsored by The Centrepiece, Spilsby, were behind once again breached on 30 minutes when Long Sutton broke into the D to score

That sent Alford into the break 2-1 down.

The second half was entirely dominated by Alford and was probably their best half of the season so far.

Shaun Smith started the fight back on 40 minutes before Gioiachino Lippolis added a third 15 minutes later.

Alford had really found their rhythm and Jack White and Chay Wood both got on the scoresheet to make it 5-2.

There was a tremendous effort from everyone and Ryan Cook got Man of the match. Thanks to both the umpires for their continued hard work.
