A sports centre in Burgh le Marsh is planning to take its facilities to the next level thanks to a grant which will make it all possible.
The Lincolnshire Shooting Centre, in Ingoldmells Road, was recently successful in applying for a Rural Development Grant of £50,000 through East Lindsey District Council which will be put towards completing a new outdoor 100 metre rifle range.
“The grant will allow us to develop the range, which will be suitable for longer distance shooting, rifle shooting and archery. A wooded wildlife area will also be built and we aim to have everything completed in three months,” said Robert Barber, range conducting officer at the centre.
The improved facilities will also take the centre up to Olympic standards.
“Currently, there are no other facilities in the area, apart from the RAF base at Newark so it will be great to increase space which will allow it cater for Olympic standards,” added Robert.
An additional cheque of £2,835 was also presented on Monday by Coun Neil Cooper via ELDC’s Community Grant Scheme (see photo).
The funds were given to the Burgh Rifle and Pistol Club to buy new equipment and benches. A commemorative plaque was also presented.
