First biggest fish match for Chapel Beach Angling Club

MOGGS Eye was the venue for Chapel Beach Angling Club’s first biggest fish match.

There was a good turnout with three new members from Louth.

The weather was overcast with rain at times and a northwesterly breeze but the sea remained calm.

The winner was newcomer Andy Bates with his catch of two dogfish.

Joint second were newcomers Johnny Bates and Paul Jecklin with a single dogfish each. In third place was Barry Staniland with a 36cm flattie.

Barry Staniland won the trophy as the lads from Louth didn’t confirm their membership until after the end of the match.

In the first round of the club knockout Peter Nunn bettered Danny Tennant and Paul Kennedy knocked out Barry Staniland. All points scored in the match also go onto the league table for 2012.

The club’s next match is on Saturday May 5 at Wolla Bank with members fishing for the Marsden Cup. Non members are also welcome.
