Chapel Beach Angling Club held its latest match at Winthorpe Avenue on Saturday afternoon and early evening.
A light northernly breeze, moderate sea and mild night with moderate visibility greeted the anglers. The match was the combi match which meant anglers had to catch both a round and a flat fish to qualify for the prize money.
The winner of the match was Danny Smith, who caught a 37cm whiting, a 24cm rockling and a 28cm flat fish amongst the many others he caught to give him first place.
In a close second, with a 35cm whiting and a 26cm flat fish, came Mark Robinson. Third place went to Rick Jarvis, who caught a 30cm whiting and a 26cm flat fish. “A good evening’s fishing was had by all anglers and all anglers caught,” said a club spokesperson.
The club’s next match is on Saturday, December 14 at the boating lake in Trunch Lane between 2pm and 6pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend as all matches are open to non-members.
