Rugby: Skegness 2nd XV 32, Bourne 2nd XV 5

Skegness took the honours after an outstanding second half performance in this hard fought Lincolnshire Merit League fixture.

After early pressure, which Skegness absorbed well, Bourne went over to lead 5-0.

The score remained the same going into half-time even though Skegness battled hard to claw themselves back into contention.

An outstanding second half performance by the Blue and Whites, who have been on the verge of delivery for a number of weeks, brought victory to this exciting side.

Tries from the outstanding Lempard and Spiers brought Skegness back into the game and additional scores from Nightingale, Sheldon, Frost and newcomer Foxwell, took Skegness to an unstoppable position.

“This side continues to grow in stature and character, a tribute to the constructive work between young and old within the club,” said a club spokesperson.

Skegness Rugby Club trains every Monday and Wednesday evening at 7pm and 7.30pm respectively, at the Wainfleet Rd ground. All are welcome.
