ATHLETICS: Bolingbroke road race proves a great success

Skegness and District Running Club hosted the first of two evening 10km road races in the Lincolnshire Wolds on Wednesday.

Called the Bolingbroke Breaker, the race started and finished outside the Black Horse in Old Bolingbroke and saw a record number of more than 70 runners from across the county tackle the challenging scenic hills.

The winner in a time of 37min 11sec was Alan Wheeler from Skegness and District Running Club.

Runner-up in a time of 37:29 was Martin Waite from Newark AC and Ed Huxford, from Cleethorpes, was third in a time of 37:54. The first runner home not attached to any club was Paul Marwood in a time of 40:31.

All the runners completed the course and were awarded with a well-earned chocolate bar at the end.

Food and drink was also available courtesy of Eugenie Phillips at the Black Horse.

The second Bolingbroke Breaker 10km is on Wednesday, July 29th, at 7pm, with registration starting at 6.15pm in the Black Horse. Cost to enter is £3. Further details can be found at
