All the action from the Ladbrokes Skegness Darts League


The only game taking place this week in the Sid Dennis and Sons Ltd Darts Division One was between the Ex Service 501s and Marine Steelers.

The singles in this game were shared 3-3 with a 17 darter for Chris Fletcher, a 180 for Lee Woods a 180 and a 15 dart leg from Daniel Starkey​, and Graham Fitton​ hitting a 17 and 18 dart leg.

In the doubles the high standard of play continued with a 15 darter for Mark Thompson and Kristian Thein​ and Dan Starkey and Sean Barker​ hiting a 20 darter.

The pairing of Graham Fitton and Gary Garton​ also produced legs of 20 and 21 darts and Carl Abbiss​ hit the third 180 of the match.

The Marine Steelers stole the win 7-5.

The league presentation night is on Friday, May 8, at Skegness Working Men’s Club with ‘Jabba’ Jamie Caven​ and MC John Fowler​.

‘Jabba’ will be playing league players and presenting the trophies.

On Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, the finals of the £10,000 Marine Boathouse competition will be played.

There will be 16 players from all over the country, including nine Lincolnshire-based players, with three of those from the town, Tony Holland,​ Mark Forman and Carl Abbiss, along with Sam Hewson​ and Simon Stainton​ from nearby Mablethorpe.

The league have also secured the services of 2013 word champ Scott Waites for a summer fun bus on Sunday, July 19.

Tickets for this will go on sale soon and the bus will be visiting different pubs from last time.

This years world champion Scott Mitchell​ is also coming to town on Friday, October 16, at the Ex Service.

Add to that the Ex Service Pro Am tournament with its eight qualifying weeks, there are very busy and exciting times ahead for the local darts scene.

The first of these qualfying rounds will take place on Friday, May 15, at the Ex service Club.

There is a limited of 30 players and 29 of the spaces have already been paid for.
