A fleet-footed Skegness boy has triumphed at a recent under 7s gymnastics event.
Marty Jackson (5) was competing in the Lincolnshire School’s Primary Gymnastics Championships on Sunday, January 26, hosted by Banovallum Gym Club, Horncastle.
The year one Richmond Primary pupil beat off competition from 35 boys and girls aged 4-7 to take first place in the championship.
The talented gymnast, trained by Debbie Butler at the Bannovallum Gymnastics Club, has only been training at the club eight weeks, but has already shown early signs of promise - becoming the youngest from her classes to train in her ‘advanced group’
“Marty works exceptionally hard and travels over to Horncastle two evenings a week to train, he has a lot of potential and is one to look out for in the future,” said Debbie.
During the event, the 5-year-old achieved the highest floor score of 8.8 in the championship and even volted over a box taller than himself. Marty will compete in an all boys county competition in Lincoln on Sunday, March 2.
