London Marathon blog: one month and eight days to go
The run itself went great and I did all the right things afterwards to make sure I recovered quickly, like stretching and refueling.
However, despite this, I was wrecked for the rest of the weekend. I was too tired on the Friday night to lean over and reach for my glass of wine. Yes, too tired for wine; it’s bad.

Hide AdHeaven knows what will occur when I aim for 20 miles this Friday.
But a quick glance at my planner shows I am still on track, as it were. This week I am planning a tough hill session, perhaps some intervals and to make use of the Worksop Leisure Centre by getting in a swim for some core training.
It’s been a week of support for me, with all kinds of people coming out of the woodwork and sponsoring me on my JustGiving page (www.justgiving.com/Debbie-Sansom).
Added to that we held an awesomely successful fundraiser at Edwinstowe restaurant Launay’s on Friday night. Over 80 people joined us for a night of fine food, fine drink and fine music.

Hide AdMy husband’s band The Rides (www.therides.co.uk) agreed to play the gig for free and had the whole room up and dancing at the end of the night.
A special thanks to them and to Alison and Alain at Launay’s for supporting the event.
We raised over £700 and a fab time was had by all. In fact we raised so much, I have even upped my online target.
Many businesses also offered support and raffle prizes including Nando’s, Shireoaks Inn, Allure and Launay’s, as well as prizes being offered by countless friends.

By Sunday I had happily recovered from my hangover and, pushed on by the wealth of support on Friday, I toddled off to have a go at the Retford Half Marathon.
