Wainfleet United’s long trip worthwhile after superb display

WAINFLEET United’s lengthy trip to play Billinghay Reserves was worth the journey after they secured a 3-1 win thanks to a superb all-round display, writes Barry Baker.

Wainfleet made a good start to the Boston and District league match and were two-nil up at the interval through an effort from Phil Simpson and a 25-yard screamer from Bob Jackson.

The Wainfleet keeper, Ryan Medley-Metcalf made some brilliant saves in the first-half to maintain the advantage.

In the second-half Wainfleet went 3-0 up when Michael Parnham scored with a superb strike.

Billinghay scored a consolation goal from the penalty spot with five minutes remaining.
