WAINFLEET United got off to a flying start in division one of the Boston and District League after they secured a 5-2 win at home to Spalding.

Wainfleet made a good start when Bob Jackson scored a well-worked goal. United then went 2-0 up when Carl Minor rifled home a screaming volley. Shortly afterwards Matthew Broome made it 3-0 to Wainfleet.

Spalding hit back to make it 3-1 at the interval and then pulled another goal back after the restart to make it 3-2.

But Wainfleet rallied and Michael Parnham made it 4-2 when he blasted home a penalty. They rounded off their 5-2 win when Carl Minor scored his second.

Wainfleet’s man-of-the-match was Tom Jenkins.
