Town are in seven heaven

Will Britton.
Will Britton.

If Skegness Town boss Nick Chapman was looking for a reaction to the defeat at Brigg seven days earlier, he certainly got it.

The Lilywhites responded by hitting seven past East Lindsey rivals Humbertherm.

It equalled their best victory of the season and opened up a four-point gap at the top of the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League table.

It was a solid performance and after the first goal the result was never in doubt.

Jordan Smith returned to the starting line-up and chipped in with the first two goals, but Will Britton stole the show with a four-goal blast.

In between, Miles Chamberlain grabbed his first since the brace of goals he scored against Ruston Sports in September.

Arron Scutt set up Smith for his first goal, which settled the visitors’ nerves and from that moment it was one way traffic.

Chapman was delighted by the way his squad bounced back after the Brigg setback the previous week.

He was pleased to see Britton and Smith back amongst the goals, but he was particularly impressed by the performance of midfielder Scutt, who he felt was Town’s man of the match.
