Only one Lincolnshire Intermediate Football League game survived at the weekend - the clash between Northgate Olympic Blue on their all weather synthetic 3G pitch at Sleaford against fellow mid tablers Swifts JFC in the South League.

The visitors, Swifts, excelled on the modern surface, scoring 13 goals. Northgate Olympic Blue only replied with two goals of their own.

Welton in the Central League managed to get their pitch fit after moving the game to Dunholme but their opponents Old Leake defaulted and Welton were awarded the game.

All other fixtures were beaten by the heavy rain over the weekend. Cup fixtures will be played next week.

As next season approaches the LIFL under 18 football league welcomes any applications from local clubs with under 17 or under 16 age group teams looking for well organised Sunday Male Youth football in and around Lincolnshire.

“We have three regional divisions and a Premier division for more senior clubs,” said a spokesperson. “Apply to League Secretary Paul Mason at paul.mason7852@btinternet.com or contact LIFL via our web site www.leaguewebsite.co.uk/lifl.

“Also, early applications from interested clubs or sponsors are also sought for a new under 21 Lincolnshire football competition to be formed next season, starting mid week in August 2014.

“Several senior clubs have shown interest in this exciting development for Lincolnshire’s football advancement,” they added.
