Nathan Collins says his side won't be caught out by Selby Town's early league form.

Skegness Town travel to the Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium this evening to face a Robins side who are still searching for first points of the Northern Counties East League Division One campaign.

While the Lilywhites got off the mark on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Hallam, who are among the title favourites, Selby suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Swallownest, following on from last Tuesday's 4-1 reverse against Emley.

Skegness and Selby were battling for the league title before last season's campaign was declared null and void, and manager Collins believes tonight's hosts still have the talent to be competing at the other end of the table.

"Selby are always a really strong side, they've got some good players in there and they've had a bit of a dodgy start with some strange results," he said.

"But the players they've got, that won't carry on."

Ben Davison, who scored the only goal of the game against Hallam on Saturday, will miss out tonight as he recovers from a head injury.

Collins was pleased with Saturday's performance at the Vertigo Stadium as the squad bounced back from an opening day defeat to Dronfield.

"Title favourites Hallam have the bulk of the Worksop team that won the league above so they're a really strong side," he said.

"But the lads played well and should have won it by more. It was pleasing, their keeper was outstanding.

"Last season our record against the top four or five was really good. We don't want to be a flat track bully and just beat the bottom teams.

"On Saturday the lads were made aware we needed a reaction. They trained really well in the week and we had Danny Durkin back to give us that pace up top.

"We played really well."

Tonight's action kicks off at 7.45pm.
