HAVING hauled themselves back into contention after a disastrous start, the Lilywhites will be kicking themselves for not getting anything out of this match.
A missed penalty and a string of fluffed opportunities in front of goal cost them dearly.
Town were still settling in when Billy Munro gave the home side the lead, latching on to hesitancy in the Skegness rearguard.
Skegness responded positively, but against the run of play the Nettles stung them with a second goal, Joshua Bowden’s 15th of the season.
The Lilywhites could have scored in the 32nd minute when the referee ruled that Danny Reid was fouled by two defenders as he burst into the penalty area.
Liam Papworth sent home keeper James Peachman the wrong way, but his spot kick smashed against the cross bar and away to safety.
Four minutes later the seasiders finally got their goal when Courtney skipped past Peachman and rolled the ball into an empty net from the left.
It was all Skegness at this stage and a through ball from Andy Reeson provided Papworth with a chance to redeem himself for the penalty miss, but he stabbed the ball inches wide.
After the break Town continued to press but Reid squandered two golden opportunities and then Peachman pulled off a tremendous save to deny Papworth.
With 20 minutes left the visitors finally drew level when a disputed free kick was clipped to the far post, where Papworth headed home.
Nettleham grabbed all the points five minutes from the end when the referee awarded a harsh penalty against James Critchlow for handball.
Jonathan Drabble stepped up to clinch the three points from the spot.
