Good defending by the home side and missed chances from United resulted in the points being shared.

After early United pressure it was Louth who had the best chance to take the lead. Adam Cowdell was adjudged to have committed a foul in the area, and from the resulting penalty Ben Martin brought off an excellent save to his left from Rocky Rawlings.

Louth took the lead against the run of play when United failed to cut out a through ball and Paul Coulam ran on to beat Martin with a rising shot as he came off his line.

United came back at Louth, and on 30 minutes drew level when Louth failed to clear their lines on two occasions, and the ball was played by Kurt Crossley to Phil Winter, who made no mistake from 10 yards for his first goal for the club.

United took the lead five minutes into the second half. After a corner had only been partly cleared by Louth the ball was returned by O’Loughlin for Crossley to head home from close range.

On the hour mark Louth drew level with their first chance of the second half.

From a Louth corner the ball was not fully cleared, and Dave Pawson fired home.

United continued to take the game to Louth, and Crossley hit the post with a well angled shot.

In the final minute Rayner-Mistry cut inside and his shot hit the outside of the post.

United’s match with Heckington on Easter Monday was postponed due to their opponents being unable to raise a side. Next matches for United are on Thursday (April 4) at Humbertherm with a 6.15pm kick off.

Then, on Saturday (April 6) they at home to Ruston Sports. Kick off is at 3pm.
