Lilywhites soak up the pressure to earn a point

Skegness Town 1,

Horncastle Town 1

TEN man Skegness Town picked up another point on a heavy Burgh Road pitch.

The Lilywhites fell behind to a Dave Marshall strike and then five minutes before the break had striker Michael Gardner sent off.

Before Horncastle had a chance to take advantage of the extra man Sam Sleight fired home a free kick to make the half time score 1-1.

After the interval the seasiders soaked up the pressure to hang on to a point.

“It was all hands to the pump in the second half, but I was proud of the way the lads dug deep,” said co-boss Nick Chapman.

The seasiders were due to complete their league programme with a home match against CGB Humbertherm (weather permitting).

Their Supplementary Cup semi-final against either Boston United Reserves or Heckington will take place on Saturday 12 May (kick-off 2.30pm).
