SKEGNESS Town’s injury woes continued on Saturday with the late withdrawal of midfielder Dane Harper.

With Dan Tuplin, Michael Howard and Lewis Cartwright already sidelined by injury, and the Dickinson brothers unavailable, Harper pulled out of the county cup trip to Grantham side Harrowby Athletic with an ankle problem.

The Lilywhites drafted in youngsters Herbie Nichols and Craig Rawlinson and welcomed back keeper Michael Emery.

There’s a chance that Cartwright may return to the squad tonight, Wednesday, to face his old club Horncastle Town at the Wong (kick off, 7.45pm).

Against Harrowby, Skegness were guilty of a slow start, but took the lead through Nichols.

The seasiders dominated possession without posing any further threat to the Athletic goal during the rest of the first half.

Indeed, Emery was called upon on a couple of occasions to keep his side in front after being left exposed.

The tempo was raised and the Lilywhites’ neat football prevented the home side getting back on level terms.

Lee Orrey produced another smart finish to double the lead after being set up by Nichols, and Michael Gardner completed the scoring with his sixth of the season.

Skegness Town: Emery, Trestrail, Booth, Thompson, Howland, Cobb, Papworth, Broome, Nichols, Orrey, Gardner, Rawlinson.

On Saturday, Town will be left kicking their heels without a fixture, while Skegness Town Reserves, who lost 4-1 to Pointon last weekend, will be at home to Wyberton on Saturday (kick-off, 2.15pm).
