A Rhys Mansell strike secured a hard fought point for Skegness Town Reserves at Benington on Saturday.
Some wonderful approach play from Jake Bell, Sam Walker and James Bland set up Mansell with the chance and he made no mistake from the edge of the area.
Town were on the end of some strong challenges from the home side, but they held firm until Gavin Bell’s 86th minute equaliser robbed them of victory.
Town tried to play the football, while the home side were stronger at setplays.
Town’s defence of Jake Chapman, Damian Howland, Jamie Epton and Jake Bell deserve credit for the way they repelled the Benington threat, and keeper Dan Simpson commanded his penalty area. Skipper Howland’s performance earned him the man of the match award.
Skegness manager Scott Daley said his players had been exceptional, refusing to get provoked by their opponents.
“I was extremely proud at the way they stood firm when it mattered and kept playing their football,” he said.
