Fish spring a surprise after making slow start

Chapel Beach Angling Club’s latest match was fished on the beach near the boating lake at Trunch Lane, between 6.30-10.30am.

The weather was cloudy and rainy but the sea was calm with a slight ripple, and an average turnout of anglers was had by the club.

The anglers had a quiet first two hours and as they were just starting to nap, the fish caught them all off guard and surprised them by putting in an appearance!

All the fish caught were medium sized dabs, and the winner of the match was Rick, who also took the prize money for the biggest flat fish.

In joint second place were Paul Kennedy and Barry Staniland.

Everyone is welcome to go along and take part, even if you haven’t fished before, as some of the members will advise.

The club’s next match will be taking place on Saturday, July 2.
