SKEGNESS Second XI finally got their season underway in the top flight of the South Lincs and Border League when they welcomed champions Billingborough to Richmond Drive.
There were half centuries for Alistair Ainsworth and Daniel Nuttall, but it couldn’t stop them slipping to a four-wicket defeat.
Ainsworth’s 68 runs and Nuttall’s 78 set the champions a target of 190, which they achieved for the loss of six wickets.
Gollop top scored for the visitors with a useful 69.
On Saturday Skegness seconds are at home again when they entertain Market Deeping 2nds (1.30pm start).
