SPILSBY Judo Club celebrated an impressive gold, silver and bronze performance at the Yorkshire and Humberside Judo Championship.
Lauren Osborne stormed her way through all her fights, with some smart attacking, defence and counter-attacks, which landed her a gold medal – an outstanding achievement considering the very strong opposition.
Thomas Gleadell showed his incredible athletic and judo skill by earning silver for winning four fights by clean ippons, his last fight coming against a more senior, heavier and experienced opponent who denied him the gold.
James Hide, Lucia Calcagni, Poppy Ley, Daisy Ley and Charlotte Ripley all came away with bronze medals, winning against competition above their own weight, grade and age.
Club coach David Hereward said: “More than 150 competitors from across the country took part in the championship and for all the team to come away from such a major tournament with gold, silver and bronze medals is a positive sign that things are coming together”.
