Burgh climb league with away win

BURGH Town continued to climb up the league table with a win away at Bennington Reserves.

Burgh took control early in the game when a defence splitting pass by Mitch Tipper put Will Britton through on goal and he made no mistake in slipping the ball past the keeper.

Despite having much of the posession, Burgh just couldn’t find that second goal but Wright was unlucky when he hit the crossbar from 25 yards after a super run.

Burgh then found themselves at 1-1 after a counter-attack left them exposed at the back and the Bennington forward had an easy job to slot home.

It didn’t take long into the second-half before Burgh regained the lead. With Drew on corner duty, he picked out Pearce at the back post; who stabbed the ball home for 2-1.

Burgh made it three when Bowes found Britton unmarked to give him a one-on-one chance with the keeper, which he cooly tucked into the bottom right-hand corner.

Burgh were now in the driving seat and made all three substitutions with Jupp, Coggan and Kennedy making way. They continued to press but just couldn’t find the net again.
