Sarah Budby with family and team in attendance were present at an awards evening recently to celebrate her motorsport achievements in 2013.

Sarah was awarded for ‘highest placed female’ and ‘most improved racer’.

But the most touching award was from Dickon Siddall, who awarded Sarah with the ‘true grit’ award.

Dickon has been to every meeting this season, so saw all the podiums Sarah achieved this season, plus all the bad luck Sarah had, including the lows, starting at Donington and ending at Oulton.

He approached Sarah throughout the year, saying how he was so proud that the team and Sarah always came back fighting.

At Oulton Park, Sarah suffered two high impacts with the tyre wall, the first one being a freak accident,

Sarah’s car was extremely bent, so the team had to qualify with what they had.

“We set our aim to finish in the top 10 and still achieved that,” said Sarah.

The second accident saw Sarah out of the championship.

“After Oulton we had nothing to fight for, we set our sights high, we achieved all our aims apart from the championship position”, she said.

Despite difficulties in Sarah’s first ever full season in car racing, she finished the season in fifth place.

Her efforts were also recognised in other ways, as she received the most ‘driver of the race’ awards. She also received the ‘driver of the day’ award.

Sarah and the team would like to thank all the sponsors for their support this season and look forward to working with them in 2014.

Sarah will now be using her winter break for testing and preparing the body at New Era Gym. If anyone is interested in supporting Sarah in 2014 please contact sarah@sarahbudby.co.uk.
