‘Skeg has gone downhill’

EDITOR - As a visitor to Skegness since childhood, in the late forties I enjoyed the pier with its pier and shows, the waterway and rides. All this innocent fun somehow seemed wonderful to us.

However, since the pier was partially destroyed, it seems that there has been a steady decline about the place. Now the seascape is an industrial vista of dozens of wind turbines and soon Skeggy will open the doors of its own huge halal abattoir, what joy!

The mind boggles as to what future delights the local movers and shakers have in mind to attract the holiday crowd. Maybe we could perhaps use the beach as a refuse dump?
