Spilsby’s branch of HSBC bank announced it was to cash up for the last time.

It announced it was to close it’s doors in September, following a ‘significant fall in footfall’.

l Heavy summer downpours in Skegness resulted in a number of businesses including Skegness Pier, the Pleasure Beach, those on Berry Way and the Embassy Theatre suffer severe flooding damage.

Homes were also hit, most notably on Sunningdale Drive, Lumley Avenue, Roman Bank, Lumley Crescent and Park Avenue - some affected twice in the space of a few weeks.

l The Skegness Standard honoured its community champions in an awards ceremony at Butlins.

A whole host of awards were handed out to the worthy winners and runners-up on the night.

l Spilsby show took place for its 40th year.

l Fears that the Skegness Over 55s bowls tournament would end were allayed after announced it would help attract the UK’s top players.

l Meanwhile, bowls enthusiasts took part in the July EBA annual bowls tournament .

l Ken Dodd entertained at the Embassy Theatre and spoke to the Standard, as he celebrated 57-year’s in showbusiness.
