Winthorpe residents plan events after community day celebration

Winthorpe near Skegness held a community celebration day recently.

Members of the Winthorpe community gathered at Winthorpe Community Hall on Roman Bank.

The afternoon welcomed a number of craft stalls, including the knitter knatter group, who sold what they had knitted.

A tombola, bouncy castle, face painting, glitter tattoos and a cake stall also added to the celebratory atmosphere on the day.

Paul Marshall from Coastal Access for All (CAFA) held a display, showing what CAFA have achieved so far with the help of volunteers.

A number of health checks were also available to residents on the day.

Inside the community hall were displays showcasing everything that the Winthorpe C2 Coneecting Communities group had achieved in winthorpe over the past year, since their involvement in the project which aims to make winthorpe a better place to live.

The aim of the community day was to show the people of winthorpe what things can be achieved if they ‘pull together as a community’.

The group welcome new volunteers to join and you can be involved with the group as little or as much as you wish.

The group meet once a month and their next partnership meeting is on Tuesday, July 15 at 1pm, where the group will be looking to form a committee.

If anyone is interested they are encouraged to visit the Winthorpe Community Hall, Roman Bank, Winthorpe, to talk with group members and see what the group is all about.

Upcoming events for the community group include a new luncheon club, which launches on Wednesday June 4, 12-3pm.

The cost is £3.50 which includes a main meal and dessert.

On Sunday, June 8 at 11am there will be a Community Garden Day at the allotments on Count Alan Road.

Members will help clean up the allotments in a fun, family day for all with lots of weeding and painting.
